The Marquis of Sapucai was a teacher to Emperor Pedro II since his childhood and after he was an elder he was also a teacher to Princess Isabel. Because of so much dedication he became a street name.
In 1978, the first organized parade took place on the avenue, but the stands were not fixed and the scheme was costly and time-consuming. The persecuted, criminalized and so often pushed away rhythm has conquered an entire avenue for itself and made it its stage. In 1984 it received Oscar Niemeyer's grand design, 700 meters long as the stage for the biggest open-air spectacle on the planet and which provokes many people; joys, emotions and dreams.

The modern Metropolitan Cathedral is located in the heart of the historic center, its architecture is based on the lines of the Mayan pyramids with its square base, built in concrete, its internal decoration surprises with its colorful stained glass windows that tell the story of Jesus on earth.
Internal visit 20 minutes

The aqueduct built after the Romans was the most important means of bringing drinking water to the population of the colony and the Brazilian Empire. There are 42 arches that support a track for the old train that connects the historic center to Santa Teresa.

Selaron Staircase
The Chilean visual artist traveled the world before settling in the staircase where he left his art perpetuated in the colorful tiled staircases. The staircase was built during the colonial period to connect to the convent of Santa Teresa. For decades it was abandoned and deteriorated with brothels and drug addicts, making the area very dangerous. With the dedication that Selaron achieved, in addition to involving the local community, it attracted tourists who returned and brought tiles from their countries and cities, transforming the area into a major tourist attraction in the city.

You will be taken to a unique lunch experience, the Brazilian barbecue with allotment. The abundance of meat and a buffet of salads, hot dishes and various side dishes.
